Chrysler Strike Short Lived

A tentative labor agreement between the United Auto Workers union and Chrysler LLC today ended a strike against the privately-held car maker on the same day it began.

After the short GM walkout, some industry observers had predicted a longer action against Cerbrus-owned Chrysler. Chrysler management has no big institutional shareholders to answer to.

Wednesday’s strike, in which around 49,000 union workers stopped production at 17 of Chrysler’s 22 plants, lasted only hours.

Some Canadian facilities had not even shut down yet, as the agreement terminated the first UAW strike against Chrysler in a decade.
