Opinion: Chrysler Belvedere Union Should Vote Yes

3600 United Auto Workers Union rank-and-file members at the Belvedere, Illinois Chrysler plant will vote Friday on the proposed new 4-year contract.

Three other Chrysler plants rejected the deal over the weekend.

Belvedere's decision could effect Chrysler employees nationwide.

When I worked at Chrysler Belvedere (1967-68), I always voted to strike, just from pure hatred of management. Alienation of labor was the leftist buzz of the 60's.

But I urge today's UAW workers to see the big picture. Chinese and Indian workers are their real competition. US wages will continue to fall, and fighting the Wall Street wizards now in the driver's seat at Chrysler will only hasten the union's demise.

Just my humble opinion.
